With the previous outbreak of other coronavirus (Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), human to human transmission occurred through droplets, contact and fomites. Thus, suggesting that the transmission mode of the 2019-nCoV can be the same.
The basic principles to reduce spreading in public include the following measures:
- Avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections
- Frequent and proper handwashing
- Avoid unprotected contact with wild and farm animals
- Wear mask
- Eat well cooked meals and drink lots water
- Exercise regularly and make sure to have adequate sleep
For travelers, in case symptoms occurs, it is suggestive to seek medical attention and share their travel history with their healthcare provider.
