Did you know that when you eat tuna, it most likely isn’t actually tuna? We really cant believe anything anymore!

Escolar is a type of fish that can cause dangerous digestive effects that includes oily anal leakage! Oceana (the non-profit ocean protection group) has revealed that about sixty percent of the tuna sold in grocery stores and restaurants are actually another fish completely. These results were disgustingly gut-wrenching when they talked about sushi and mislabeled fish in those products.

Do you love sushi?

One third of the more than 1,200 fish samples taken by Oceana across the United States were found to be mislabeled. Almost ninety percent of red snapper samples were found to be something else and tuna as mentioned before was at almost sixty percent. At sushi restaurants it was noted that seventy four percent of the fish samples there were mislabeled.

The results showed that:

87 percent of fish sold as snapper was something else.

Mislabeling was found in 27 of the 46 different fish types they tested.

59 percent of the tuna tested was not tuna.

84 percent of the white tuna sold in sushi places was not tuna it was actually escolar.

Grouper, Halibut, and red snapper had been substituted with king mackerel and tile fish. These two fish have been advised against consumption in pregnant women in order to avoid the high mercury content.

Do we test the imported seafood for fraud?

We only test one percent of the imported seafood for fraud. That explains how the situation ended up so severe. We must come up with a system to inspect the other 99 percent of seafood upon its arrival, before it ends up on our plates.

Loaded with mercury

While fish is the best source for the animal-based omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, the levels of pollution have increased so much that it is no longer a primary source. Tuna even tends to be high in mercury, which can kill a person. All tuna tested by the U.S. Geological Survey were found to have high levels of mercury in them.

Do you love seafood?

If you love seafood and just can’t go without it, i suggest trying authentic wild-caught Alaskan sockeye salmon, and try taking some chlorella tablets before consuming fish this will help your body to absorb the mercury in the fish that way it will come out in a much safer manner. Eating fish with shorter lives can be more healthy as well things like herring, sardines, and anchovies.

Just be aware of what you’re eating!

Try to avoid these:

I don’t eat tuna, however there seems to be something wrong with most anything we eat..unless you live on a farm and produce everything yourself. Even then the soil might not be right.. I not a believer in junk food, however its not a perfect world.
