
Fever is usually paired with physical discomfort. It is commonly a symptom of an underlying condition, most often an infection. Most common causes of a fever are influenza, common cold, HIV, malaria, infectious mononucleosis, and gastroenteritis. Fever is not actually dangerous. It acts like a defense mechanism of your body. However, hyperthermia can cause dangerous rises in body temperature which is uncontrollable.
