For centuries, it is used as a remedy for stimulating appetite and improving digestion, and modern science has proved that it also prevents the occurrence of hypertension, stroke and heart attack, regulates cholesterol, increases muscle mass, prevents osteoporosis, strengthens the immune system, eliminates stress, and provides high energy levels for the body.

Whey powder, the one in weight loss and protein shakes, is obtained from the industrial processing of milk. Here is a recipe how to make your own home made whey.

Preparation:

  1. Boil a liter of milk and while it is still hot, add the juice of one lemon.
  2. Allow it to stay for some time, until a transparent greenish liquid separates(whey). Pour that liquid in a separate bottle and put it in the fridge.
  3. What remains is a tasty, young homemade “ricotta” cheese.
  4. Take one tablespoon of whey dissolve it in 200 ml of water (one glass) and drink it with every meal. This will particularly help people who are prone to heartburn.
