Dryer sheets are gauze-like tissues that can be put in dryers to eliminate static cling, soften clothes and can also make clothes smell great. Many people use dryer sheets as everyone wants their clothes to smell good and to be as soft as possible after getting it from a dryer. There are several dryer sheets manufacturers that manufactures odorless for consumers with environmental concerns, but recent studies say that dryer sheets are harmful to our health and can cause several diseases, even cause cancer. On the Next Page learn all about and the chemicals found in dryer sheets.

I recently moved into a senior complex. And have beautiful views in the mountains. But can go outside on my balcony to enjoy them. Because of the sticking smell of dryer sheets!

I find using the wool balls I still had bad static cling. Vinegar works great! I will try vinegar with the essential oils which “may contain antibacterial properties” according to the article.

Im sick as well that everything causes cancer. Stress is the worst thing we can put our bodies through , so everything in moderation. Eat good food, drink good wine and love and laugh because tomorrow you could get hit by a bus.

Norina Green People need to do their research and act responsibly. They will sell you anything if $$$$$$ are involved. It is unfortunate we need to educated ourselves officials will not do it for us. Cancer treatment generates huge profits for pharmaceuticals & specialists so they will not educate you

100% Theresa! I used to like perfume, plug in fresheners, dryer sheets, etc, until I developed a severe respiratory sensitivity to chemical fragrance. Most likely because a regular bombardment if all these toxic chemicals tipped my immune. Now I can’t take public transit, or go places where I could be exposed in a closed area.

At least consider everyone around you. Your dryer sends that toxic material into the air, and your clothing contaminates people and areas you come in contact with the toxic fumes.

Dryer sheets are nasty. They bind the toxic chemicals to your clothing with a waxy substance. It is then absorbed into your skin and breathed into your lungs. And it also contaminates those around you. Your dryers send toxic fumes into the air, and you contaminate everyone and every area you come into contact with. I hate those things. They should take them off the market.

After reading the article comments with people turning to vinegar which is much cheaper and available in bulk at Costco… they should realize that vinegar is made of acetic acid and other chemicals.
“Acetic Acid is a synthetic carboxylic acid with antibacterial and antifungal properties. Although its mechanism of action is not fully known, undissociated acetic acid may enhance lipid solubility allowing increased fatty acid accumulation on the cell membrane or in other cell wall structures. Acetic acid, as a weak acid, can inhibit carbohydrate metabolism resulting in subsequent death of the organism.”
Everything in moderation I say. At least for now it’s summer and the clothes can dry in blessings of the sun. 😀

Whether or not dryer sheets really cause cancer, the general public has to smarten up and stop buying into detail all these fads that aren’t necessary or good for anything except for fattening the bank accounts of the manufacturers. There are old fashioned remedies available for cleaning, sanitizing and freshening just about everything in and around the house, and a lot of these have to do with fresh air, soap and water and sunshine!
