Some great essential oils you can use are: Sweet orange brightens and some say fights stains, lavender offers a calming effect, lemon is an antibacterial and peppermint can help fight tough odors on clothing.

Natural  Homemade Fabric Softener

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon white vinegar
  • 30 drops of essential oil (Pick your favorite one!)

Mix ingredients together and pour into a storage container. You can just use the vinegar container, but be sure to make mark it as your Fabric Softener!

To use:

Shake well before each use and it’s ready for the rinse cycle. For small or average loads add 1/4 to 1/2 cup to the rinse cycle or put it in your fabric softener container in the wash machine.

Once clothes are dry you will not notice the scent of this homemade fabric softener. “So why use them?” One benefit of including the essential oils is that many contain antibacterial properties and will help disinfect laundry. (Lavender, sweet orange, lemon, and peppermint [and many more!] are all antibacterial.

Feel free to mix and match and see what works best for you!
