Most commercial sports drinks contain ingredients that can destroy your health such as high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and flavors, and genetically modified organisms.  You should not sacrifice your health for a quick energy boost. Sports drinks are especially dangerous for your health if you don’t exercise. Since they are designed to boost energy, drinking them and not exercising is particularly bad. Loaded with sugar

A 32-ounce bottle can contain over 50 grams of sugar, which is the same as a can of soda. The high sugar content will not  quench your thirst, but will make you even more thirsty.

Side effects include tooth decay and extra layers of fat that won’t go away, no matter how vigorously you exercise.

No Protein

Most conventional sports drink do not contain protein.  Protein is needed to build muscles. So there is no benefit of drinking conventional sports drinks for athletes.

Make Your Own Sports Energy Drink

Electrolyte Replacement Drink

4 cups hot water
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tsp  raw honey
1/4 tsp  sea salt
Mix all ingredients and chill before consuming.

Another alternative is to drink coconut water from young fresh coconuts. Coconut water contains potassium and natural sugars which harmonize better with the body than manufactured sugars such as high fructose corn syrup.
