These fantastic granola bars will have you loving Quinoa in no time at all. While having a very distinct flavor when cooked uncooked quinoa tastes almost the same as granola.

What is quinoa?

Quinoa is usually thought to be a whole grain but actually it is a seed. Although it can be prepared like a whole grain the same way you would make rice. Quinoa is great because while it does have a distinct flavor it does taste lovely.  It cooks a whole lot faster than whole grains do, and it has the highest protein content out of all the whole grains. Being perfect for vegetarians and vegans these seeds are packed with all nine essential amino acids, it is gluten-free and cholesterol-free.

Here is a recipe that will have your whole family begging for more Quinoa!

Quinoa Coconut Granola Bars

Things Needed:

2 cups of Oats

2 cups of uncooked Quinoa

Nuts or dried fruits whichever you’d like

1 cup of Coconut

1 cup of Peanut Butter

1 1/2 cup of Honey

Two tablespoons of oil

Six tablespoons of brown sugar

Semi-sweet chocolate

Directions:

preheat your oven to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Grease a baking dish and then begin to spread the oats and quinoa onto a cookie sheet, let them toast in the oven for about ten minutes.

Drop the mixture into a large bowl and add the coconut, honey, nuts, and dried fruit.

Now in a saucepan combine the salt, peanut butter, honey, oil, and brown sugar

Bring the mixture to a boil on  medium heat, remember to remove from the heat immediately when it begins boiling.

Pour this over the oats mixture until everything dry is evenly coated.

Put into a baking dish and press the mixture down into the dish.

Bake for thirty minutes.

Let cool.

Once the granola bars are done for added deliciousness, we are going to coat the edges with chocolate here’s how.

Melt the semi-sweet chocolate with the oil in the microwave. Just keep checking it as frequently as possible.

Stir until all is melted.

Then just dip the granola bars into the chocolate and lay them on a cookie sheet to dry.

    Lol! When my kids were small, they used to say “you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit. Quinoa.”

    My daughter ate what was put on the plate. If she didn’t want to have it for dinner, that was she could eat it for breakfast.
