Ok,ive been a dental hygienist for 34 years. FACT fluoride is NOT linked to decay. FACT:you still have to FLOSS to remove the bacterial plaque from the SIDES of your teeth .(it doesnt just get the meat chunks out,you have to wipe the sides of each tooth to get the sticky plaque off.)It doesnt matter how many times u brush or how awesome you r at it.FACT if your gums bleed ,you didnt brush too hard ,it means bacterial plaque was missed while u were flossing or brushing and caused an infection to start. GET BACK in there and get it out.Use whatever product you want but be thorough with brushing AND flossing. O. K. Im done.

“Coconut oil costs next to nothing”? Oh yeah, where, cause it’s like anywhere from $12-$16 for orgainic virgin coconut oil where I live. And trust me, I go through it fast.

I have been telling people for years that coconut oil is a godsend and it has so many uses. I use it instead of toothpaste and it works wonders <3 🙂 Once again this is just another reason why I love natural home remedies so much <3 Instead of spending tons of my hard earned money on toxic medications and doctor bills I would much rather use more alternative medicine.I would highly suggest that everybody start using natural remedies, you will never go back. If you want to learn more about natural remedies I would suggest reading this story.

I don’t see a reason why coconut oil would be harmful to teeth, but the baking soda, may be problematic, it is very abrasive and could cause enamel wear. I would defiantly do some research before trying this.

Actually bre, you should use it. We dental professionals will make up the money “we are losing” once your enamel is so thin and sensitive that you have no choice but to seek out professional help. If you “reversed” a cavity, please publish literature as to how, including evidence supporting your claim. I am sure a national dental magazine or the college of dental surgeons would be fascinated by it.

Darn that spell checker. I amazes me how some high and mighty people have nothing better to do than rudely correct someone’s spelling.

Lol…It’s not rude to correct spelling. Thank-you, Robin Attard! 🙂 I am far from high and mighty but I do like to let the ones who think they know it all…know they don’t! Spellcheck fine…but I’d still suggest to research “fluoride”

Jill never pretended to know it all, near as I could tell. nor do I.My field of experience is Dental Hygiene 34 years. while I don’t pretend to be the final word on all things dental ,my research and that of my colleagues from Reliable sources debunk the fear mongering re:fluoride. The source of information is something that is critical when evaluation of “facts”.

Shannon Gault CAN YOU STATE WHY YOU STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST THIS. What dangerous outcome is it compared to the chemicals in our toothpaste. Am curious for your documentations. We use many herbals for our health care, including coconut oils. Or are you having concerns about the baking soda that is abrasive to your teeth?.

yes I would I bath in baking soda, use it for deodorant, and toothpaste, because I know that sodium is essential for cellular health, keeps stomach acid perfect, and heals the gut, keeps saliva healthy to keep the bacteria from growing out of control that causes tooth decay and gum disease, and I would never use a toxin like fluoride ever,
