Sara Monteiro I believe that they are the same thing. The cast iron skillets heat to a high enough temperature to shatter the stove top. I was forewarned when I went to purchase a skillet. In the old days, gas stoves went hand in hand with cast iron skillets. Might behoove you to ask before you attempt the skillet on your new stove.
