    Sara Monteiro I believe that they are the same thing. The cast iron skillets heat to a high enough temperature to shatter the stove top. I was forewarned when I went to purchase a skillet. In the old days, gas stoves went hand in hand with cast iron skillets. Might behoove you to ask before you attempt the skillet on your new stove.

    Have five in different sizes; one was my great grandmother’s. The Dutch oven is ‘the bomb’; the large one is wonderful for homemade cornbread, pineapple upside down cake…well, everything. Lol
